This page explains what happens to your details when you use this website or book an appointment with us. It is written in plain English on purpose.
The short version
This website does not track you. There are no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking cookies, which is why you were not asked to accept any. Nothing is stored on your device unless you choose to open the booking calendar.
Who we are
Baba Yaro Barbers is the trading name of Yakub Buhari, a sole trader.
The shop is at 40 Church Gate, Leicester, LE1 4AJ, and that is also the address for serving any document. Telephone 07403 412 315. Email Byakub111@gmail.com.
As a sole trader there is no company number and no separate registered office. Yakub is personally responsible for the business, and is the person responsible for your details — the data controller, in the wording the law uses.
When you just look at the website
Nothing personal is collected. There is no contact form on this site and no account to create. Our host keeps standard server logs, which briefly record things like the IP address a request came from, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use those logs to identify anyone.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser asks Google's servers for the font files. That request includes your IP address. It is not used to track you around this site.
When you book an appointment
Booking is handled by Calendly, not by us directly. The booking calendar only loads when you tap “Open the booking calendar” — until you do, Calendly places nothing on your device.
Once you open it, Calendly sets its own cookies and collects whatever you type in to make the booking, normally your name, email address, phone number and the slot you chose. That information goes to Calendly and to us, so we know who is coming in and when. We use it to hold your appointment and to remind you about it. Calendly has its own privacy notice covering what it does with the data it holds.
When you call or message us
If you ring the shop, send a WhatsApp message or message us on Instagram, we will have whatever you send us — usually your name, your number and what you want doing. We keep it to arrange your appointment and to answer you. WhatsApp and Instagram are run by Meta, and your messages sit on their systems under their own terms.
How long we keep things
Booking records are kept while they are useful for running the shop — so we can recognise a returning customer and see what they had done last time — and then deleted. Messages are deleted once the conversation is finished and there is no reason to keep it.
Who else sees your details
Nobody, beyond the services named above that are needed to make a booking work. We do not sell your details, we do not share them for marketing, and we do not pass them to anyone else.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete what we hold, where we have no reason to keep it;
- stop using it for a particular purpose.
Ask in the shop, call 07403 412 315, or email Byakub111@gmail.com, and we will sort it out. If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. The only cookies that can appear are Calendly's, and only after you choose to open the booking calendar. There is nothing to opt out of before that, which is why there is no cookie banner.
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it.
